This is another image from my shoot with Bert. In shooting the male nude I approach the image just as if it were a portrait shoot and in this manner I believe that the images are never sordid (though I do of course leave that to the viewer to decide). I like portraits to have strong eye contact from the sitter in general and with nudes this asserts the model's ownership of the image. I made this image very high key using only window light from a west facing room in the afternoon. The props are very simple and really hardly featuring at all - just a table on its end to provide some texture and an opportunity for this pose.
Bert is definitely an amateur model who saw my work online and contacted me to ask if he could model for me - Iwas delighted and the session really worked well, he and his husband had great senses of humour and both took direction incredibly well. This is among my favourite images form this shoot.
