I recently had a third shoot with nude model Alan. We had decided to shoot on the beach at Blackhall rocks. We had cancelled a portrait shoot a few weeks earlier because of a bad weather forecast, so depspite a cool day today we both wanted to shoot.
It turned out to be a good day for photography, quite overcast, so good even light, but was a bit chilly for nude modelling. Nevertheless, Alan soldiered on and we got a number of great images.
Alan came to the shoot with his own ideas and we incorporated those. One idea was to shoot him with the wind blowing a towel around his body, which I think worked really well.
Alan was also keen to try getting a silhouette of his body in one of the natural doorways carved in the Magnesium Limestone of the cliffs at this location
The next shot was in the opposite direction, and even though it isn't quite a silhouette, for me it works better.
I had decided to concentrate more on shooting with film in this session and for those of you interested in those things it was Ilford HP5 film for its speed which was then semi-stand developed in Rodinal. Most images were shot on 6x9, but we did shoot one roll on 6x7 and all were shot using the Mamiya Universal Press camera.
